What YOU can do to
help strengthen our Union
Dear Members,
You can sign-up to contribute $1.00 per month to the SEIU COPE two ways-
Via payroll deduction thru webBart
Submit a COPE deduction card
We are asking our members to do 3 simple things to strengthen our Union.
1. Attend at one General Membership Meeting per year.
2. Contribute $1.00 per month to the SEIU COPE- Committee on Political Education.
3. Sign up for the BWU-BART Workers United email list (seiu.bart@gmail.com.) and visit this website frequently.
1. Attend at least one General Membership Meeting per year.
We have 10 GMMs per year- General Membership Meetings (none in August & December.)
With 1300 members (each attending only 1 meeting per year) we should have over 100 attendees at every GMM. This is not happening.
We can't run a Union, defend our living standards and plan for the future without YOU.
Did you know that you can sign up for an automatic payroll deduction via the internet and webBART?
The deduction could be as little as one dollar per month.
Money will get us Political Influence.
President Arantes, VP Davis, and Secretary Tolliver are your BART Chapter Delegates to the Alameda County COPE committee for SEIU. In addition, President Arantes, VP Davis, and BPC (BART Professional Chapter) President Des Patten are delegates to the Alameda Labor Council. We have positioned ourselves to influence Board politics and the decisions and policies that affect your lives.
We want you to join COPE- to send the District a message that we are organized.
If all BART Chapter members contributed $1 to COPE, we would be collecting $1300 a month.
If all Local 1021 members did this, our local would collect over $45,000 per month.

3. Stay informed by signing up for the BWU email list and by visiting this website frequently, downloading information, and meeting flyers for posting in your work areas.

These simple member actions are part of a three pronged plan of attack, which consists of organizing our members, working closely with the Board, and appealing to the public.
We need the energy and concerted action of YOU our members to strengthen the Union.
We cannot make accurate decisions in regards to your future without YOU.
